Eat Out Steak Out 2018
I think most of us can relate when I tell the story of how I always enter for a competition with the thought at the back of my head telling me that I can enter but would most probably never win the actual price. Well, this story actually ended with a good twist. I actually won!
I was scrolling through my Instagram page one day when I saw that you could win two tickets to the EatOutSteakOut event if you just tag your steak-loving buddy who you would like to go with. So naturally, I tagged my partner in crime. After that, I didn’t give it much thought again and a few days went by when I got a notification on my phone saying that the page Eat Out had tagged me in a comment. I was very intrigued to see what the post says as I have already totally forgotten that I have actually entered the competition. It took me a few minutes to release what the post was about, and then it hit me! I have won! I mean how cool is that, you can just imagine my excitement! I was letting out this very girly screams when I realised what had just happened when Jeandre came up to me and was giving me this look that was asking, “are you alright?”. Needless to say, after I had cooled down and explained to him what the excitement was about, he was just as pumped up like me.
Because we live outside of the city we don’t normally attend events like this, just because of the time to get there and the expenses to buy the tickets and the fuel normally it all just ads up so we’ll just stay home and make something special or try a new recipe. But this time around I actually won the tickets so it made a huge difference.

On the day of the event, we arrived about 30min after the gates opened and they were already starting to get busy. At the gate, we received a pamphlet which contained our vouchers to tasted each restaurant that was at the event as well as one beer and one glass of wine with a serviette that was wrapped around a plastic fork and one gorgeous Tramontina steak knife for each of us. It did not take us long to start the tasting, with that smell hanging around from all the different types of steak being grilled no one could blame us after all that was what the day was about.

We tasted ribeye steak that was 82 days matured with marrow (which was my absolute favourite) to Wagu steaks, I mean it was just a meat lovers paradise. Unfortunately, I did not get the restaurant’s names that were serving all these delicious steaks, I stayed at our table because we had a lovely spot in the shades and we knew that if one of us did not stay seated the spot would be lost. While we were eating we enjoyed the free beers and drinks, which was so good!

We were very disappointed to the end of the day to find out that one of the restaurants were completely out of food that we have saved to try out last, it might not have been the worst thing that could have happened as we were totally stuffed from all the other good stuff we got to taste but it was still a bummer when you hope to be tasting 8 dishes but end up only tasting 7.

I really think this was a great event and would gladly recommend it to anyone who loves meat. I think the only things that could have been better planned would definitely have to be the fact that some of the restaurants have closed before some guests could have tasted their food, because we did not pay for our tickets we were really chilled about it but I know that if we did actually pay for the tickets we would not have been so happy about that. Then also, just one serviette for 8 dishes is a bit under kill, I would have like a bit more serviettes as mine was so dirty by the third dish and then last but not least, the wine was hot, it was good but hot, almost luke and for wine that is not ok just one ice cube would have been better than lukewarm wine.

That being said the day had still ended in a very good note, we enjoyed each other’s companies for a full 4 hours, excluding the drive to and from the event with not having to spend one cent on drinks or food.
All in all, it was one super fun experience and we have decided that if we do ever get the opportunity to attend this event even if its about 2 hours drive from us we will definitely attend.
Thank you so much to EatOutSteakOut and Tramontina for the opportunity to have attended this event!
